Divas - Anything But a Card

Hello.... I hope you are all well.... it's Team A's turn over at

and we have a wonderful theme for you this week of....

'Anything BUT a Card'

so no cards allowed this week... can't wait to see what you all make instead! :-))

I've made some Mini Note Books.... they have little Post-It Pads inside...

I was lucky enough to win this Mini Note Holder Kit in some Candy from my lovely blogging friend Claire about 15 months ago. Now I'm gonna confess... I've got the kit out a few times but couldn't figure out the instructions and how to do it!! Lol ... but thought this time I'm gonna master it!!

The Kit has 3 Post It Pads and the bits and bobs to make the holders for them... I really like how they came out and I got better with each one that I made.

and this is how I made them....

You are given two pieces of chipboard in the Kit...that act as guides.... the long piece at the top... and the one on the left.... I chose some pretty paper and began placing the pieces on the wrong side... placed the first piece of square chipboard in the top left corner... I used strong double sided tape to stick it.

then move the side guide piece over to the right hand side and use it as a guide on where to put your right hand square of card.... hope you are following this.. it is hard to explain!!

Then you take the short piece of card for the spine and stick that in the centre.... and now all your bits are stuck on for the basic note holder.

So take both guide pieces away. Trim any excess paper so that you have just enough to fold over and leave a nice margin as below...

Fold each side along and glue securely.... I used Tacky Glue for this....

If you want to add a ribbon... then now is the time to add before you put the inside paper over....

Trim a piece of paper to size and cover the inside neatly.... again I used tacky glue....

I found it works best if you bend the holder into shape every once in a while.... as the glue is drying... that way it has some give for the hinge....

I forgot to photograph the next stage!! but you glue the Post-It Notepad onto the right hand inside of the holder.... leave all to dry properly.... then decorate the front as you wish....

If you are wondering where the ribbon went on this one - I decided it was a bit too thick and looked awful when tied!! So I trimmed it off this one.... but I used some thin white organza ribbon one of the others and that worked really well.

Once you get the hang of them, they are so easy to make and I think they look really sweet!! they don't need much decoration. I've used a Flower and some Bo Bunny Isabella Metal Trinkets.
You can make these yourself without a kit... if you Google 'Post It Note Holder Crafting' you will get lots of Tutorials that come up. The dimensions all depend on the size of the Post It Pad... but once you have the measurements it should be straight forward. They make lovely gifts. As soon as I get time I am gonna make some bigger ones too! :-))

I hope you can pop on over to our main blog at Divas by Design and see the team's gorgeous creations!!! :-))

Can't believe it's mid-week again! I almost forgot to schedule this post ... but remembered in the middle of the night!! Glad it's all done in draft!

Thanks for all your lovely comments on my last card. My asthma is a lot better now... I've doubled up my Inhaler which helps. The weather forecast says it should brighten up a bit by Thursday... so let's hope so and fingers crossed it will be nice for the weekend! :-))
Take Care
Love and hugs

These are absolutely gorgeous Sue, I'm glad you took the time to figure out the instructions. The metal embellishments make them look very vintage and expensive.
I'm glad your asthma is a little better, the forecast for the weekend looks good at the moment, let's hope it stays that way.
Take care.
