Christmas Snow Scene - Shadow Box

Hello all, it's been a while since I last posted, so thought I'd share this little Shadow Box that I made just for fun. It's one of the new Sizzix Brenda Walton Dies... it's a lot smaller than I expected... about 8.5cm x 7.5cm when assembled... but hey, small can be fun too! ;-)

I cut the Shadow Box itself out of white pearl card. Then for background I used some night sky paper that was freebie in magazine a while back. I've used a Cheery Lynn - Winter Neighbourhood Border and created layers by building up with 3D foam squares. I've also cut a couple of layers by hand to look like snowy hills.

Then had to decide what to put at the front as it looked a bit boring. I tried all sorts but wasn't happy until I found this wonderful Boy and Girl Skating on Graphics Fairy. Yes, the skaters are a bit big in comparison to the houses... but the street is further away than it looks!!! honest! Lol

I decided against too many embellies as don't think it needs it ... so just put some silver nailheads on each corner.
Hope you like it!! My Daughter and Mum really love it!

Are you all ready for Christmas now?

Tesco have just delivered our main food shop and they had everything in stock!! Yay! they had even reserved my favourite Mr Kipling's Winter Whirls!! (they are sold out everywhere near here) and they gave us a little box of choccies for being a good customer... how kind!

Also one of our neighbours called around this morning...  a girl from the next road... and she brought some beautiful Christmas flowers for my mum to say Thank You for putting her bin out and bringing it in throughout the year!!  what a lovely gesture... it has restored my faith in humanity.

Ah well, my daughter has just arrived back from North Yorkshire to spend Christmas with Mum and I... I was very worried about her travelling in this awful weather... but luckily she got her train ok and is back safe and sound. So I feel I can relax again now... she tells me not to worry so much... but I can't help it!!!

Just in case I don't catch up with you before the big day... I would like to thank you for all your lovely comments and support throughout the year!! it really means a lot to me!!
Hope you all have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year!!
I know some people might be unwell or going through a bad time... if so then I send you huge hugs and really hope that things improve for you very soon.

MAWTT - Winter Wonderland

Hello... I hope you are all well today... and big hugs to those who are not.

it's Thursday and the turn of Team B over at

and our lovely boss Hazel has chosen a theme of

  'Winter Wonderland'

So we want to see lots of snowy, icy creations! I'm looking forward to seeing all your fab entries! :-)

I've made a vintage themed card with this fab image from E-Vint. It really reminds me of our nearby meadows... as we have a little lane that runs down to a church... very quaint... and this is what it looks like when the landscape is covered in snow.

I think the papers are both Pion? the background one is a lovely soft blue with snowflakes... and the other paper has little churches in the snow, but I seemed to have covered them all with embellies!!

 Image: 'E-Vint'
Dies: Spellbinders - 'Create a Flake' and Memory Box - 'Snowflake Sprig'
Sentiment:  LOTV Grunge Sentiment.
Pom Pom Trim and Nailheads from Stash.

I hope you can hop on over to our main site at MAWTT and see the rest of the Team's wonderful snowy creations this week... lots of inspiration for you!!

Are you are all nearly ready for Christmas? I've been mega busy but am hoping to get my tree up this weekend. I have a hospital appointment on Friday for an Echocardiogram and then fingers crossed that will be my last appointment until New Year. So planning on having a chillout weekend. Will watch the Strictly Semi-Finals on Saturday... but hope Len is in a better mood... my, he was Mr. Grumpy Pants last week and I thought the judges votes and comments were very strange. Hope this week is better!!

Thank you for all your lovely comments and a warm welcome to my New Followers!

Divas by Design - Feeling Festive

Hello.... I hope you are all well.... it's Team A's turn over at

and we have a wonderful theme for you this week of....

'Feeling Festive'

Can't quite believe how Christmas is fast approaching this year... not too long to go now... so hope you will all join us for our Festive Challenge!

I don't usually do this... but thought I would make two cards this week... just to get you all feeling extra festive. They were fairly quick to make as I've used pre-coloured images from LOTV but I'm quite pleased with how they came out. The scrummy papers were freebies with Papercrafting magazine.

I've added some Spellbinders Snowflakes and some Star Nailheads to both cards. The 'Precious Stocking' below is from Memory Box and I've cut out the top from white felt on my ebosser.

Sorry the photos are a bit grainy... I should have got my lightbox out but was too tired!!

We are sponsored by the wonderful Stamp and Create

I hope you can pop on over to our main blog at Divas by Design and see the rest of the teams gorgeous and very Christmassy creations!!! :-))

Well I very nearly forgot to schedule my post for this morning!! I was just on my way to bed and checked my online Calendar... it's a good job I leave myself notes to remind me!!
Looking forward to the weekend again but I am bit sad as think it is the last episode of The Paradise... this series has gone by way too quickly... at least Mr Selfridge is on after Christmas... and Call the Midwife... so something to look forward to in the New Year!  ;-)
Thanks for all your lovely comments!

MAWTT - Girly but NO Pink!

Hello... I hope you are all well today...

it's Thursday and the turn of Team B over at

and our lovely Sarah has chosen a theme of

'Girly but NO Pink!'

it doesn't have to be a card... as long as your creation follows our theme !! I'm looking forward to seeing all your fab entries! :-)

I've made a vintage card using some very pretty Prima - Fairy Belle paper....

I made the twirly blue wire embellies and added some beads on the spiral ones.

Paper: Prima - Fairy Belle
Star Nailheads: JosyRose
Wire and Beads: From Stash

I hope you can hop on over to our main site at MAWTT and see the rest of the Team's wonderful girly creations this week... lots of inspiration for you!!

Well the nights are certainly drawing in up here in North West England.... in fact some days it doesn't seem to come light at all !! Lol - I think it's time to get some Christmas Lights out to brighten up the place. Just need to tidy up a bit and make some space for my tree.  We have our Advent Calendars up and ready to go for Sunday - once we are in December then it will seem really Christmassy!
I'm looking forward to Strictly on Saturday, as it's Musicals Week! so it should be good !! :-))
Thanks for all your lovely comments... I really do appreciate them!

Christmas Heart

Hello... I hope you are all well. It seems an awful long time since I posted anything other than DT Creations ... so thought I would share this Christmas Decoration that I made. It took me a couple of weeks just adding bits here and there. The wooden heart was a freebie with one of my magazines.

I painted it with White Acrylic Paint and it needed a couple of coats each side before it looked good. Then just added embellishments.... some roses and berries, jingle bells and pearls.... some sparkly silver twine to hang... quite a simple design but it looks very pretty hung up on my door :-))

Well my weekend didn't start off too well... as I had to wear a 48 hour heart monitor and I got nasty allergy to the electrode stickers. Last night was awful... I was itching so much that I had chills with it ... took some antihistamine and it helped a little... but I was counting the time down until I could take the blooming things off at noon today!! I was SO glad to get them off and have a wash! I did ask the nurse for some hypo allergenic patches but she said these were all she had!! :-(

Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better now. Mum and I had a nice evening meal and enjoyed watching Strictly... although I'm really dreading the dance offs from now on - it's getting such a close contest!!

Off to have my last cup of tea before bed... and I might just squeeze in another of Mr Kipling's Winter Whirls... have you tried them yet? they are like a cross between a Viennese Whirl and a Mince Pie... Ooh they are very naughty... but exceedingly NICE !!!! Lol
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Divas by Design - Make it Pretty

Hello.... I hope you are all well.... it's Team A's turn over at

and we have a wonderful theme for you this week of....

'Make it Pretty'

I can't wait to see all your gorgeous creations for this one!

I coloured this very cute Saturated Canary image called 'Christmas Nutcracker' months ago and so thought it was about time I made a card for her to go on. I've used some pretty paper with roses on... it 's not 'Christmas' paper but it seemed to go well with the image. I've used part of a Memory Box Snowflake Sprig Die in top right corner.  It's a good job that I buy huge rolls of ribbons though... I waste so much trying to get a decent bow. I usually end up taking all the ribbon off and binning it! Shhh... don't tell anyone.... ;-)

We are sponsored by the wonderful Iva Nova Chest

I hope you can pop on over to our main blog at Divas by Design and see the rest of the teams very pretty creations!!! :-))

I've coloured 'Christmas Nutcracker' with Copics.

I've been catching up with some Christmas shopping this last week... and I even made a few Christmas Cards!! I think it's finally dawned on me that it's only a month away!
it was a lovely day here today... clear blue skies but very cold... I'm having to wrap up extra warm to keep the old joints and bones warm!!
Looking forward to Strictly again on Saturday... wasn't it fab from Blackpool... absolutely loved Susanna and Kevin!
Thanks for all your lovely comments!

MAWTT - Furry Friends

Hello... I hope you are all well today... big hugs to those who are not feeling too good.

it's Thursday and the turn of Team B over at

and the lovely Tammy has chosen a theme of

'Furry Friends'

it doesn't have to be a card... as long as your creation follows our theme and has an animal on it!  I'm looking forward to seeing lots of very cute entries! :-)

Image: Pink Gem Designs - 'Baby Polar Bear' (Coloured)
Paper: Raspberry Road - 'Cosy Christmas Papers' Template Set 1
Ribbon: from stash
Sentiment: made on computer

I saw this 'Cosy Christmas Paper Template Set 1' from Raspberry Road designs was on offer and thought I'd try it out. You get some black and white patterns and you can colour them with your digital software. I really love them as you can make the patterns 'any colour you like' !!!

It's quite a simple card but the polar bear is SO cute that you dont need too many embellies.

I hope you can hop on over to our main site at MAWTT and see the rest of the Team's cute creations this week... lots of gorgeous inspiration for you!!

Can't believe how quickly this last week has gone by. I've had quite a busy week and so huge apologies if I haven't been to visit your blog for a while...  I must try and catch up with you all ! Are you all looking forward to Strictly at Blackpool? it should be good. And did you enjoy Downton? Can't wait now for the Christmas episode! :-)
Thanks for all your lovely comments!

I can't believe how quickly this last week has flown by. Monday I had hospital appointment -  it went ok but was really tiring and didn't help that the receptionist sent me to the wrong department that was miles away for a test.
Can't wait until weekend again for the last episode of Downton... think it's gonna be exciting!!
Thanks for all your lovely comments.. I will catch up with you all soon!

MAWTT - No (Design or Digital) Papers!

Hello... I hope you are all well today...

it's Thursday and it's my turn to host Team B over at

and I have chosen a theme of

'No (Design or Digital) Papers'

So we would like you to make a card or project without using any ready made or digital papers....

You could make your own background using distress inks or by stamping a pattern or image. You could layer up different coloured card, emboss your card, use die cuts... anything... as long as you don't use ready made papers.

I have made a CAS card using a Brenda Walton Sizzix Deer Die - isn't he adorable!!
I layered up some red mirri card and then embossed some white pearl card. I love this embossing folder - it is from 'The Snowman' range. The sentiment is from The Crafty Pad and I've mounted it on a nestie.

Then I used my ebosser to cut out the deer. I cut some parts of the deer again in contrasting colours. I had a look on the internet to see what reindeer really look like!! and shock horror - they don't have red hooves and a red nose !! LOL - but did notice that they have very cute fluffy white tails... so I've added a bit of white flock which I hope looks ok. I've also added some tiny red gems to his halter/collar. I used a brown gem for his eye - although it looks red in photo!! Looking at this card now... I think maybe a little red heart would look nice bottom right... so might make another of these cards and try that.

it's quite a simple design but I think it's cute!

I hope you can hop on over to our main site at MAWTT and see the rest of the Team's wonderful creations this week... lots of inspiration for you!!

Thank you for all your lovely comments over the past couple of weeks! My dad's funeral went really well on Tuesday and it was a beautiful service. The sunshine even came out as we arrived at the Chapel and stayed out throughout the service, so that was nice.
I did a bit of blogging and crafting at weekend and enjoyed it but I seem to be really slow at doing everything. So think it's going to take me a while to get back to speed.
Looking forward to the Halloween Strictly at the weekend... and loving Downton and The Paradise too! :-))
Hope you are all doing ok

As I said earlier in my post - I am taking a little break from blogging.  I'm very sad to say that my dad passed away last week. We were expecting it - but it has still hit us all very hard. I live with my mum, and my daughter is also here a lot of the time and so we are all supporting each other through. Family and friends have been great and very supportive. We are doing ok but feel very tired. We still have quite a lot of paperwork to sort out and the funeral to plan. This last week has seemed like a total blur but think I am starting to come around a little now. So I am just gonna give myself some time to adjust and see how I feel in a couple of weeks. Thank you for all your lovely comments - I really do appreciate them!

Meanwhile ...Take Care and I will be back with you all as soon as I feel able!

MAWTT - Anything Goes!!!

Yay!! We're back!!!
 at

Moving Along With the Times

Well it feels really good to be back after our Summer break.... and to celebrate our return we have both A and B Teams combining for a theme that you will all love!!

Anything Goes!!

Yes, you can make anything crafty that you like ... your world is your oyster!! :-))

We are sponsored this week by the wonderful Sir Stampalot!

and the winner will receive this fab prize!

I hope you can hop on over to our main site at MAWTT for more details and to see the rest of the Team's wonderful creations this week... lots and lots of gorgeous inspiration for you!!

I thought I would make a card using my new Kite Die from Memory Box. I have lots of happy memories of  kite flying in Autumn at our local park... and do you remember those balsa wood glider kits that you got in comics that slotted together? I used to love them so much.... I was very easily amused!! LOL

I've used a digital image from Whiff of Joy which is called Henry with Vintage Kite... but I've cropped off the kite part of the image... so that I could add my new MB Die. The die cut kite looked a bit plain and so I added a piece of patterned paper and some strips of card to look like wood...

Image: Whiff of Joy - 'Henry with Vintage Kite'
Papers: First Edition - 'Sweet Owl'
Sentiment: LOTV Black & White Sketch Pad
Flower: Prima
Die Cuts: Leaves - Marianne Design Flower Set and 'Summer Kites' - Memory Box
Nailheads: JosyRose

I've coloured cute little Henry with Kurecolor Markers

Well it really feels like Autumn now and the nights are drawing in....I can't believe it's October!!! where on earth did September go.

My dad moved into the Nursing Home on Monday and is settling in... he was very tired and bit disorientated at first but is now getting to know the staff who seem lovely.  He has lost so much weight though during the 10 weeks in hospital and we are really hoping he will start eating a bit more. The Chef made him a special omelette yesterday and he also had some ice cream which he has wanted for a while now. He has a lovely room with a view of garden.

It's been very tiring this week as we are getting used to new routine for visiting, shopping etc. We all feel quite shattered... but I'm sure that once we get adjusted it will be ok. Again, big apologies if I haven't got around to visiting...I'm trying to fit in a bit more commenting. I really do appreciate all your comments and support!

I was so tired on Saturday that I fell asleep and missed beginning of Strictly!!! LOL can you believe after me raving on about it so much?  so I watched it on Catch Up, Sunday. Ooh Julien Macdonald needs to calm down a bit!! I laughed so much at the Hairy Biker though - he had Mick Jagger's strut down to a T! I think there will be quite a few good dancers this year.

I hope you are all keeping well and if not then I hope things improve for you very soon.
