MAWTT - Decoupage

Hello... good morning! I hope you are all doing ok... it's time for a brand new challenge over at

This week it's the turn of Team A... and the lovely Kim is our hostess.... she has chosen the fab theme of

'Decoupage'

So we would like to see cards or projects using decoupage... this could be done in the traditional form with a decoupage sheet or kit... or else you could stamp or print out an image several times and build up an image or scene... I thought I would do a lovely Summer Card to remind of us our holidays!! now it was sleet/snow and cold when I made this... so I listened to 'Down by the Seaside' by Led Zep for inspiration.... and tried to think of sunnier climes!! I always find decoupage very relaxing and so I really enjoyed making this card!

I used a Jayne Nestorenko kit that was free gift with Papercraft Essentials magazine last year... lots of lovely layers and I've used 1mm thickness 3d Foam pads... and it really gives a lovely 3D effect to the whole scene...

when it came to the boy and the donkey... I added 3mm foam pads to the bottom halves to bring them up to the front of the scene....

I'm sure you'll agree that decoupage is very hard to photograph... so I'm just going to put the best piccies on from different angles.... I don't think any of them are perfect!

Sometimes I wish I wasn't a perfectionist! LOL

It looks a whole lot better in real life!! LOL

We are sponsored this week by the fabulous Sir Stampalot

who have kindly donated this fab Creative Kit prize... love the gorgeous colours!

For more details of the challenge... I hope you can hop on over to MAWTT and you can also see my Teamies gorgeous creations for your inspiration.... looking forward to seeing all your wonderful decoupaged creations!

Ooh I'm glad this post was all done in draft a couple of weeks ago! I've had stressful week. My dad had another seizure on Monday night... have to say that I find them very hard to deal with... I think if he came around a little bit after ten or fifteen minutes then I would feel a whole lot easier... but it is always 30 to 40 minutes before he even begins to come out of it ... as you can imagine - that feels like forever.... not sure that I will ever get used to them... :-(  but at least he is ok now which is the main thing .... I think I just need learn to deal with them better!

Tuesday night my mum had her allergy where all her tongue swells up... so it's been a bit like an A & E Department in our house this week! LOL we are all ok at the moment though - just very tired!! So huge apologies that I haven't got around to everyone's blogs!

I'm hoping all stays well and  that I get a good sleep tonight... I'm sure we will all feel better with some rest! ;-)

I made some CAS Easter Cards last week and so I will try and photograph them for weekend!! they are nice and bright and cheery! :-))

Will catch up with you all very soon
not long until weekend now...
Love and Hugs

This is a fabulous card Sue, such a lovely scene and lots of my favourite decoupage - it certainly has me dreaming about lovely summer days on the beach.
It sounds like you have been having a very stressful time, it must seem like forever waiting for your Dad to come out of his seizure and your poor Mum - that must be quite frightening for all of you.
I hope you managed a good nights sleep, you're so right - it does make you feel so much better.
Take care of yourself.

Hi Sue sorry to read about mum and dad's health problems allergies can be difficult even where their cause is known every day items can contain the allergen when we least expect it I remember a patient with a peanut allergy who thought it would be ok to use a coconut based sun cream, she ended up in hospital and after that checked more carefully. I know it seems a long time for dad to come round as long as his breathing is relaxed it isn't a problem and his recovery may always be over that period. Take care of yourself. Your card is beautiful I felt warmth and sunshine when I saw it. Your decoupage layers are fantastic and the image reminds me of summers spent at the coast visiting my gran.

Oh Sue, not a good week for you at all, too right a 30 - 40 min seisure is a worry, you must all be frantic by the end of it, & then your Mum having a turn on Tues, poor soles, I so hope the week picks up for you all and that all health matters improve. As you say, a good nights sleep works wonders!

As for your card my dear, it's just such a sweetie - love it to bits and I did the moment you posted it. Brilliant decoupage - top of the class I'd say, Jx

Oh dear Sue. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, it must be a terrible experience to go through and scary too. Also with your mum being unwell, no wonder you are feeling tired. I hope things improve and the rest of the week is less stressful.

Oh Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your parents... I wish they were allowed some rest (and you, too, for that matter...). Glad they're both doing fine now though!
Gosh, you've done some serious fussy cutting my friend, but what a lovely scene this is, makes me wish for a nice place near the seaside and breathe in the salty air! But we're still enjoying these wonderful low temperatures, lol! Big hugs, Ira xox

Oh Sue you poor thing what a horrid week you have had. I hope things are settling down now for you and you are able to have a more relaxing weekend. On a lighter note, your card is just fabulous. I love the image, reminds me of when I was younger and down by the seaside (we live in Blackpool) for the donkey ride!. They still have the donkeys but I'm afraid the background is not pretty like on your image. It really lends itself well to the beautiful decoupage you have done! Its snowing here now - yuck! Hugs Susan x

Hi Sue hun :)

I just popped by to catch up on your blog - I hope your mum and dad are doing better. It sounds like an awful time for you, so sending hugs and best wishes :)

Your card is charming - I love to see a bit of decoupage! ;) My mum just used to sit and cut it out. I inherited loads of bags of ready cut decoupage, so I am good to go if I get the urge - lol :)

Hope you manage to have a restful weekend,

hugs
