Flashback to October 2010

Moving Along With The Times are having a wonderful 'Flashback' Challenge, where you re-post (no back-linking) an old card or project that you are proud of or one that means something special to you. Sounds lots of fun to me!

I thought I would go way back to the beginning and choose a card that most people won't have seen. So this is from when I first started Blogging and Stamping. It was my 3rd Blog Post, and my 2nd attempt at a Challenge on October 2010.

What amazes me is that I did an Easel Card!!!  I really was 'winging it' and learning on the job here. I had a handful of Promarkers and only three stamps!!! I had bought Lili of The Valley's 'Dropping theShopping', 'Skating Along' and 'Christmas Candle'

I was so naive that after buying these three rubber stamps in August, I bought a huge ink pad and thought that was it!! I took the unmounted rubber stamp and plunged it headlong into the ink pad and wondered why all I got was a dreadful mess !!!!!!! rofl ….. oh dear, memories!

Anyway, after a lot of googling and looking at other peoples websites, I figured out what I needed. There was this strange Crafting Language that I didn't understand. What on earth was DCWV and WOC and Blog Hops?? LOL Sandy's Stamping Scene was the first Cardmaking Site that I ever came across and I was really blown away by her cards. They weren't just Greeting Cards, they were Works of Art!!! and it was where I first saw the Challenges!

Anyway, as I only had three Christmas Stamps, when some Autumn Challenges came up I had to be inventive and turn the snow into leaves !!! I remember hand cutting those leaves with bits of scrap paper!

I can't believe how my colouring has changed in a year! This looks very basic, no shading.

Anyway, hope you have enjoyed this blast from the past! Some of my commenters for this card were Pat, Brenda, Clare, Andrea, Pinky, Tracy. I didn't really know you all back then but you, and my Followers to come, were all so supportive as I was starting out. So thanks for that! and hope you enjoyed a little trip down memory lane!

I would like to enter this card into the following Challenge:

Moving Along with the Times - Challenge 112 - 'Flashback' (ends 23rd August 2011)

Take Care!
Love n Hugs

Oh Sue, what a lovely read that was - so nice to hear about your third post and I remember what a nerve racking time that was for me last year too! It did make me smile when I read about your stamp and the ink pad (I did that too!) - I tell you what though - this is a fab card and it didn't need shading, or anything extra as it has a uniqueness and a load of charm and I love your leaves! Hugs, Teresa x

I really enjoyed reading this! It made me remember my own struggle to learn how to do all this kind of art. My first ATC was a total catastrophy and big as a Postcard. Fortunately the lady who received it teached me all about ATC´s and didnt become dissapointed because she received such a misery card...
I hoarded scrapbookingmaterial for abt two years before I started to use them... Then suddenly I just felt "This is it!" "This is what I want to do!" :)
I guess you felt the same way.

Your card to your mother is so beautiful! I still don´t know how to make an easel-card and you made it as one of your first one´s! Great job!

Happy weekend! Hugs!

Your card is gorgeous, so much work has gone into it and I can see why you would be proud of this one. Good luck with the challenge. Hugs Cheryl

Anyway, i am glad you are showing this card, i love it but i can see that you have improved so much in one year.
Have a great week-end.

Hi Sue,
I'm happy that I've been an inspiration to you. Thank you sooo much for all your visits to my blog; I love reading your comments; they always put a smile on my face. As for this card...can't believe you made an Easel card as one of your first ones; well done you! Very creative with the leaves. My mum's birthday is also in fall, so these are the colors I usually use for her birthday cards. :-)

I think it took me about a year or so until I dared to try something different than a squared card. :-) I also started out with just a few stamps and heat embossing was my first thing. I remember buying powder after powder in different colors; I still have loads of them, but then there was Copics and the rest is as they say history... :-)

Take care,
S.

Hi Sue, gosh I'm away a couple of days and I miss so much!

I love this little card and you are right its great to see some of your early work that I haven't seen. Your colouring may have changed but this is still a fantastic card, I love all the autumn colours and leaves - you have more patience than me hand cutting them!!

I also love to read your posts you make them really interesting, I'm so pleased we got to know each other, I have a lot to thank blogging for
