Squirrel's Engagement

I found this card in a folder ..... must have forgotten to post it...

my daughter asked me to make an engagement card for her friend last September. She said her friend loves squirrels and so I said yes, I could work with that... a squirrel engagement card?

Anyway, after lots of searching I finally found a squirrel image that I liked on sliekje digi stamps.  A very talented lady named Angelique draws and paints and shares her delightful images. So thank you Angelique for the beautiful squirrel image!

As it's an engagement card.... I used the image twice... flipping one of them. I cut away the acorn on one of them and added an engagement ring with little gem. I think Mrs Squirrel might have to wear this ring as a bracelet though? Lol. This was such a joy to colour. I've kept things very simple. Just added an embossed border and a computer generated sentiment. Looking at it now... wish that I'd drawn in a border on inside of the embossing... think it would have finished it off nicely!

Well the weather here is a bit Autumny today! pouring down at the moment! I'm gonna have to go and put the top light on as I'm sat here in the dark!! Mum and I got caught in a big storm last Thursday. We had just stepped out of the doctors and it's only a short walk to the chemist.. but it waited for the moment we stepped out!! why does it do that!! good job we both had our raincoats on!

Hope it brightens up for Wimbledon!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

Flaming June ... Strawberries .... Wimbledon ....

I bought some new digital images recently from StarStampz on Etsy. My friend sent me a gorgeous Birthday Card with one of their stamps on, so I went over to buy the image and ended up buying a couple more... love this Strawberry image! :-))

Papers and Elements:  Raspberry Road Summer Goodness
Except for paper behind image... which was a freebie with Design House Digital and is by Sara Schmutz - Strawberry Patch
The Blackboard is from Raspberry Road Summer Goodness Element Set... original says FRESH STRAWBERRIES 25 Quart.... but I've added Happy Birthday and xxx on the board just for this one off card.... but all design credit goes to Raspberry Road Designs.

I can't believe it's June!! don't know about you... but June always makes me think of Strawberries and Wimbledon! :-D

I had a fall last night... really don't know how I did it but when I got up to go to loo... somehow lost my balance and instinctively grabbed my tower fan which was nearby and we both went down together into the hearth!! :-O
Ouch!! and what a crash! I'm okay but it shook me up - my leg is very bruised and sore... it has made my spine pain worse too. So I'm resting up today. Gonna watch some catch up tv later.

Clean and Simple!

Hi all,
it seems a while since I last posted and I've been really missing blogland!

It's been a hectic few weeks at home, but we survived the kitchen renovations. It took a bit longer than anticipated, but it's all finished now and we absolutely love it... more on that later... but first.....

Now this is long overdue.... but I have to say a HUGE Thank You! to my dear blogging friend Cathy... who very kindly passed onto me a prize that she had won... of a Craft Classes Online Course that she wasn't able to take up.

So a while back, I chose to do a CAS Course by Jeri Parks and would highly recommend it as it was awesome!! I learnt so much on it. I'm just sorry that I haven't had time to post more about it until now.  I have a file full of wonderful coursework with lots of inspiration and ideas. I can't wait to create more CAS cards...

I thought you might like to see some of the cards that I created during the course...
please let me know which is your favourite?

On the course I learnt a lot about Colour and Contrast, and Balance and Flow and lots more besides. CAS cards don't seem quite as daunting as before, as now I have something to work from, and am not sat looking at a white space. I still have a lot to learn... the most important thing that I learnt about CAS Cards is that they are NOT quick and easy! they take thought and planning to make them 'look' clean and simple. I'm hoping that you will see an improvement in my CAS Cards.
Thanks again Cathy! it was so kind of you to give me this wonderful gift!!!

Back again to my kitchen... as I know some of you wanted to see photos of it... so here goes...

This is when it was first gutted!! :-O

and this is it now!!!

We're so happy with how it turned out!! It's a very small kitchen, but it's amazing what a difference the new layout has made, and the new appliances are all awesome... the new levelled floor really took some getting used to though... after walking on quite a slope for 54 years!! it felt really weird Lol.

The builders and workmen were really great... they kept stress to a minimum for us... but it was still a bit much for my mum... she got a really bad chest infection after it... so I've had to be with her 24/7 for about ten days. My chest flared up also... so I've been on the tablets again... but think we're both on the mend now.

I'm really hoping to get back into crafting proper soon if mum stays well.
I have managed to make a card for Thursday MAWTT.  So will see you then....

P.s. Just noticed Poldark in my Sidebar... anyone know where he is? I thought he was supposed to be back for second series in April? !!!! he's late... gosh I bet we now have to wait until after the Olympics!!! :-(

MAWTT - So 80's

Hello... it's the turn of Team B over at

and our lovely Lena is hosting the challenge this week with a brilliant theme of.....

  So 80's
Go crazy with neons or pastels (a la Miami Vice)
black and white geometrics /asymmetrics
whatever you think of when you think of the 80's

I absolutely loved the 80's and have lots of very happy memories of this fab decade!! :-))

I found this wonderful image from Lemon Shortbread... it really made me chuckle as I had a very brief phase in the 80's where I used to wear a red and white polka dot ra ra skirt... teamed with a denim jacket. I also had red shoes with bows on!!! so I cut out two of the hair bows a bit smaller to add to the shoes in the image! Thankfully there is no photographic evidence of me in this get-up!! not that I know of anyway!! Lol.

I hope you can pop over to our main site at MAWTT and see the rest of the Team's wonderful 80's creations!!
You have until Wednesday 11th May 6pm BST. Three entries per person and please, no back-linking.

This is a scheduled post as we have builders in doing the kitchen at the moment. I'm sure it will be wonderful when it's completed but it's hard going at the moment. The kitchen is the hub of the house, so it's been quite difficult re-locating all our gadgets. The kettle and brew stuff is upstairs... and in the living room?.... the toaster is on the sideboard, and the microwave is on the TV Unit!!! So at moment we have riveting night's viewing of watching the Chicken Curry going around and around!! ROFL.

I will catch up with you as soon as I can.

Mother's Day Wobble Card

Hello... hope you are doing ok today? Huge hugs to anyone unwell or going through difficult times...

it seems to have been a long time since I posted, so thought I'd share this card that I made Mum for Mother's Day last month.

I found a CraftsUPrint Sheet in my stash of freebies from magazines.... used it to make up this Wobble Card.... love how it came out and you can add your own little touches. I added my own sentiment and some gems.

Gems: Stash
Sentiment: Computer generated

Sorry that I haven't had time to visit your blogs very often. Mum is improving slowly but still not back to strength. I finally got my new bed... got a divan this time and am really pleased with it. We're hoping work will begin on our new kitchen soon. Seems like we've been waiting forever, so can't wait for it to be finally done.

Have any of you read or listened to Belgravia? Julian Fellowes has a new online partwork out. You get the first episode free. I listened to it before bed and found it really relaxing. So think I am hooked now :-)
Hope you're having a good weekend
Love and Hugs,
