Tag Swap - Part 1

Hi... no card today... I'm not feeling too well and so resting ... the heat seems to be affecting me really badly at the moment... and don't think the Murray match last night helped matters!! hee hee... my blood pressure must have gone through that roof! ooh his opponent was like a spoilt giant five year old spitting the dummy!! LOL

Now when I mentioned a few weeks ago about the Beer Festival held at our local church.. which is this weekend....a few of you sounded really curious.... but please feel free to 'skip and scroll' if not interested :-))

I know... it sounds SO odd... but it began about 8 years ago when a new vicar joined our parish and on his first Sunday Service the roof fell in on him right near the altar!!! he wasn't hurt but he took it as divine intervention that the church need some major repairs...  and when it was surveyed... well the whole roof needed re-leading and everything... the cost was phenomenal... and there were also lots of other repairs needed they had lots of fund raising events... Fetes, Fun Days and Musical Evenings etc. but it just wasn't bringing in enough money to pay for it... so to tempt some of the young ones the vicar was a 'real ale' enthusiast - he decided to get a few different ales in for folk to try... and put on a BBQ etc.... well that's how it all began and now it has just got bigger and bigger each year!!.. 80 Casks of ale and 50 of Cider/Perries in the Church hall now!!!... big marquee in church grounds.... local bands... so yes it is a bit strange... but then I'm not sure we'd still have a church without it? a true moral dilemma eh?

ok... enough of my waffle... onto my Tag Swap with my lovely buddy Elaine in Australia....

This is what she sent me and ooh she wrapped them so beautifully too... and I love strawberries!!

the first thing I opened was this beautiful book card....

I love this strawberry paper!!!

it opens up and also has a little drawer at the bottom... isn't it exquisite!!

and inside are these gorgeous altered pegs... each one is decorated so beautifully!!

Ooh I was blown away by these gifts.... we did a tag swap with a theme of
'Christmas in July'

and this is the wonderful tag that Elaine made for me... Oh I love it SO much... all the little details... look at his apron... and the sparkle on his fur trims... the cute animals.. and those sweet little Christmas Lights... it's awesome!!

I really haven't got the hang of Tags and Atc's yet... I would like to do nice backgrounds on them with inks and glimmer mists... but I keep trying and they come out a mess... so I'm going to watch some video demos and see if I can pick up some tips... I will show you the tag I made and a couple of other things when they arrive with Elaine....

Oh well... I'm going to have something to eat and then might read or watch a DVD :-)
Hope you are all enjoying the weekend!!
Take Care
Love and hugs

Wow! You certainly have a talented friend Sue, the detail on the Christmas tag is fabulous.
I think you must have a very liberal vicar, it sounds like he has the right idea to get everyone involved and raise the money needed.
I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling well, I think a lot of people suffer with the heat - we're not used to it are we! I hope you feel better soon - enjoy the tennis tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling too good Sue. Our weather is crazy in the UK, it goes from one extreme to the other. It would be nice to just have some sun without it being so hot.
I loved reading about the Beer Festival, it sounds like it's a fabulous event and brings the community together.
the tag and decorated pegs you received are gorgeous, I am sure you will treasure them.
Take care, I hope you feel better soon

So sorry to hear that the heat is bothering you so much sweetie, but then again it IS quite hot, isn't it? A cool shower might be nice? Love the story about your vicar Sue! It's not such a bad idea I must say, after all, isn't that what the church stands for: being there for people? Have a lovely evening, big hugs, Ira xox

What lovely gifts Sue, sorry you were not well at the weekend, I hope you are feeling better by now. I just haven't bothered blogging or crafting while the weather has been so hot, just can't get in the mood, I have just been relaxing and reading, mind you everywhere seems quite quiet on the challenges and blogs I think everyone is feeling the same. Take care of yourself.

Sorry I haven't been past sooner Sue - probably shouldn't be here now as I still have lots to do! How you feeling? If the heat was bothering you last week, I can't imagine how ur feelin now? Hopefully getting used to it - but it takes a bit of getting used to as we're far more used to rain! Love your gift set above and the pegs are so pretty. A great crafty gift, & that tag is just brilliant! Thanks for the email, I will reply properly but I guess that will be after our holiday now. Hope you are feeling better my dear & will chat properly on my return, Jx
