MAWTT Challenge 151 - Cool Britannia (Red, White & Blue)

Morning everyone!  it's Thursday again and so time for a brand new Challenge over at 

Moving Along With the Times

This week the lovely Laurie is our host and has chosen the fab theme of.....

'Cool Britannia (Red, White & Blue)'

Well ... what better way to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee !! It's amazing to think that Elizabeth II has been on the throne for 60 years!! It doesn't have to be a card as long as you follow the red, white and blue theme - so lots of scope with this one.... we look forward to seeing all your wonderful creations...

I thought I'd have a bit of fun with this theme and also celebrate UK's Jubilee year. So I've filled the bus with Top 12 Greatest Britons of all time.... as voted by the people of Britain in 2002. See how many passengers you can recognise!!

Annie over at Digi My World very kindly gave us some fab images to play with... the set we've used is called England and includes a bus, a grenadier guard, Union Jack flag (as seen on the bus), a telephone kiosk, a rose and a girl dressed in union jack dress! You can also buy the set pre-coloured if you wish..

I've coloured the London Bus digitally and even found some authentic wheels on the net! then found photos of the Top 12 Greatest Britons and placed them behind the windows. Digitally added the Cool Britannia sign. Also digitally coloured the flags and the little Grenadier Guard and popped him on top of the bus LOL - isn't he a brave little soldier!! - just hope the bus doesn't go under any bridges en route ROFL.... 

The two little flags on top of bus are from Nitwits Tour of London Set.

Scrummy Papers are Papermania Portobello Road and were a birthday gift from my daughter. I've finally broken into them and they are gorgeous!! I made the little 2012 and Jubilee Banners.

Finally as it's a Diamond Jubilee - I added two crystal gems.

It's quite a 3D card in real life but it's not showing up in the photos. I decoupaged the flags, wheels of bus. Used 3D foam pads on bus and banners.

My Crafty Heart - DT Card - Dancing Willow

I can't believe it's Monday again! The weekend passed by so quickly. I hope you all enjoyed some sunshine! I went to stay with some friends and we went to see Sister Act at Liverpool Empire - it was a really good show! Fab singing, lots of humour... so I had a really nice relaxing weekend. We watched the end of Eurovision - how embarrassing for UK!! but I suppose it was better than 'nil points' LOL. But we started to remember some of those wonderful Eurovision oldies... Une Banc, Un Arbre, Une Rue and Ding-a-dong.... remember... ah they don't make them like that anymore!! 

Anyway, here's a card that has my favourite Whiff of Joy image called 'Dancing Willow' and she's available from My Crafty Heart.

I took a load of photos but the colours don't look as nice as in real life... hate it when that happens!

I love this paper - it looks like lace! I've used my favourite 'delicate vine' die and my favourite Prima Rose trim... I've coloured Willow with Promarkers and a touch of Prisma Pencils for shading.

MAWTT Challenge 150 - Celebration - NOT Birthday

'Celebrate but NOT Birthday'

So we want to see your creations celebrating a special event but NOT a Birthday! It could be New Home, New Baby, Anniversary, Wedding, Engagement etc. It doesn't have to be a card.. it could be a tag, gift box, bag.. etc. as long as it follows the theme. 

I decided to do a 'New Baby' card and have chosen this mega cute image from Pink Gem Designs called appropriately 'Baby Girl in Pram'.  I've coloured it with Promarkers. The gorgeous digital Gingham Papers and 'New Baby' Sentiment are also from Pink Gem designs. I've digitally paper pieced the gingham on the sentiment to match and then coloured the pink bits. Stars are from stash and I've had them for I don't know how many years - think they were free with magazine!!!! so nice to finally use them!

My Crafty Heart - DT Card - Willow with Flower Basket

This gorgeous little lady is 'Willow with Flower Basket' by the wonderful Elisabeth Bell, and is part of a new range of Whiff of Joy Stamps now available at My Crafty Heart. Isn't she adorable...

The background 'Park Bench for Two' is from Make it Crafty. I've coloured Willow and Background with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. Then cut Willow out and paper-pieced her with matching paper.

I'm not totally happy with this card - it's a little too busy !!!! I tried putting Willow against a plain background but ... my daughter and mum both said that they liked the little garden I had done for her !! :-) so I went with the garden.... LOL

I was feeling tired and so thought I'd have a look in my stash box of sentiments that have been lying there unused for years. I found this LOTV one and it was mounted on the same card!! and edged with gold - perfect!! don't you just love it when that happens...

I'm sorry about the spacing and gaps. Blogger is playing at silly b*****s again!! keeps changing my font size and leaving gaps... Arggh!!! doesn't it just drive you nuts...

I've decorated inside using digital paper. My mind has gone completely blank and can't remember where it is from at the moment ... :-( and I only did it yesterday!!!! Edit: Paper is from Design House Digital and is part of a Set called 'The Sweet Life' by Karen Funk. I didn't know until Teresa said but you can also get this paper with My Mind's Eye pad called 'On the Bright Side 2'. Thanks hun for jogging my memory!!

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post!! my daughter really loved the card that I made for her. And thanks for all your birthday wishes for her... she had a lovely day and lots of nice surprises. Good news is that British Gas came on Monday and managed to fix the boiler. It was a part that needed replacing. What a relief. After five days of having to boil kettle to wash pots, clothes etc. it got really tiring...


Ok now I'm really gonna have to switch the laptop off - I've got raging migraine and blurred vision. So sorry if any of the photos that I've chosen are blurred or for any glaring mistakes - just corrected quite a few!! LOL. I need a darkened room.... will catch up with you all very soon...

'Flower Power' Emma

I had a wee bit of spare time and so enjoyed having a play and making this card. I've had 'Flower Power' Emma for a while now and thought she would look really good with this gorgeous paper and funky fabric flowers that the lovely Ira gave me for my Birthday.  :-) Thank You hun!

Emma is from Pink Gem Designs. I was going to colour Emma but the pre-coloured image that you get with your digital stamp is coloured beautifully and it just seemed to match really well! :-) So I printed her out several times and layered up the flower and the boots. I've added stickles and it looks very pretty in real life honestly!!! but just couldn't get it to show up in photos.... 

And that's it really - quite a quick card. Sentiment was made on computer using a Sixties type font.

This is the photo inspiration from Fairy Fun Fridays. The colours inspired me but I can also imagine Emma having make up like this LOL.

My Crafty Heart DT Card - Sofia Wishes

Here is another gorgeous Stampavie image called 'Sofia Wishes' and it is one of the wonderful Sarah Kay images available at My Crafty Heart. Isn't she adorable!! I've gone for a Little House on the Prairie look with this card and paper-pieced her dress, pinafore and bonnet to match the papers. It was quite fiddly to cut out with all those frills! :-)

MAWTT Challenge 148 - 'Nautical'

Morning my lovelies - it's Thursday again... so time for a new Challenge over at

This week it's the lovely Leesa who is hostess for her very first Challenge and she has chosen the fab theme of ....

'Nautical'

So we want to see your creations with anything to do with the Boats, Sailors, Pirates, Mermaids etc. I felt really off when I made this - just hope it doesn't show in the card!! it's quite a simple design. I've used a Stitchy Bear Stamp called 'In The Harbour'. 

I've tried something a bit different and used some Watercolours that a blogging friend bought me for my Birthday - Thank You so much hun!!! The sky is done digitally - not sure why I chickened out of painting the sky but felt I needed to give myself a head start!! LOL it's not perfect but I'm quite pleased with it. I haven't done any Watercolour painting for about 20 years!! I have to say it was very relaxing - so might have another go very soon!

The gorgeous papers were a freebie from Design House Digital and called For The Boys by Karen Funk. They are lovely papers. The background one is quite velvety but it doesn't show up too well in photo. Sentiment was made on computer. The shells were from Sir Stampalot but not sure if they are still available as I think they were in an end of stock sale. I noticed they have some gorgeous charms in store though. Talking of which....

I have been to dentist today (Wednesday) for a filling. Boy am I shattered!!! I had panic attack while I was there and well... have you ever tried to control your breathing while the dentist is holding down your tongue and drilling - and the suction woman is ramming her thingy ma-jig up into the roof of your mouth - Yikes. All I can say is that next time I will be taking a sedative before I go.... My dentist is brilliant though, very calm which I like. I don't know what he injected me with this time but my face was dead on one side for about 3 hours!! I looked like Quasimodo!!!

Well the weather outside is frightful - so I thought I'd make a lovely bright and cheery card! This is another of the wonderful Mabel Lucie Attwell images that are available at My Crafty Heart. This one is called 'Friends' and if you look carefully you will see little 'Kylie' again LOL (from Let's Dance card).

I just love this image. I think they are having a good gossip about what they have planned for the Summer Holidays!!  I love the paper too - it has a gorgeous suede look to it.

'Summer Sunshine'

I have to admit that I struggled with this!!! It was like midwinter when I settled down to make this card!! and my mojo had completely disappeared. I think I had forgotten what Summer actually looked like because I started off making a card that had daffodils on it !!! So I had a rethink and remembered this gorgeous image that I bought a couple of months ago from Mo Manning. It's called 'Lacie with Ice Cream' and I think this really does capture 'Summer'!!! 

The Papers are from Design House Digital and are a Set called 'A Fresh Start' by Karen Funk and they are free!!! I really like them - they are fresh and very Summery!! The sentiment was made on computer and I have added Stickles. I thought I'd give Lacie some sunshine....
